Chautauqua Institution is a community located on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York. All wedding activities and events will take place within the Institution, and everything on the grounds is easily accessible by foot or bike. We strongly recommend staying within Chautauqua Institution for the long weekend. If you plan to stay off the grounds or leave the grounds throughout the weekend, we recommend renting a car (or boat!).

We know Chautauqua is not an easy place to get to, so we are incredibly grateful you are making the journey and spending your Labor Day weekend with us. Your presence is truly all we could ask for!
We put together a registry of items we would love to own one day but certainly do not need. We are very fortunate to already have most of what we need for everyday life. Travel and shared experiences are among the most meaningful gifts you can give us. We would love and appreciate any contributions to our honeymoon fund.If you are inclined to choose something from our list or contribute to our honeymoon fund, you can find everything below.
Thank you for helping us celebrate not just this day, but all the days ahead!

While we love kids, our wedding events are adults only. However, if you plan to bring your families for the weekend and need childcare during wedding events, please reach out to Jennie directly for a local babysitter list.
-
While our main events will be hosted on hard surfaces, some portions of Friday and Saturday evening will be hosted on grass. We encourage wedges or thicker heels.
-
Shuttles will be provided for guests on the wedding day to and from The Athenaeum Hotel. We will have smaller trams available for guests who may need assistance walking up the hill from the ceremony to our reception space.
To ensure a timely departure of 4:15p, please be in the Athenaeum lobby by 4:10p.
For guests not staying at the hotel you are welcome to travel to the ceremony with your own vehicle, but please note that parking will not be provided and street parking is extremely limited.
There are endless activities available to you on the grounds and around the lake. Please subscribe to our Google map to find recommendations for local spots, food, and fun!
Some highlights include: drinks & dinner at 2 Ames; beers at 3 Taps; racquet sports at Turner Gym; boat rentals at Chautauqua Marina, and Jennie’s least favorite sport at Chautauqua Golf Club.
